The Arca Hotel

A hotel rooted in place — in the particular quality of a neighbourhood, its light, its people, its rhythms — needs art that knows how to look and listen. At The Arca Hotel in Wong Chuk Hang, that was precisely the brief: to commission artworks that captured the character and spirit of the community surrounding the building.

I managed the full art programme for the property — from artist and artwork proposals to budgeting, curation, procurement, production, and installation — across all 187 guest rooms and every public space: the hotel entrance and reception, restaurant and patio, private dining room, function room, and rooftop. Mediums spanned photography, sculpture, digital illustration, and prints — a breadth that matched the layered texture of Wong Chuk Hang itself.

Photographer Laurent Segretier’s work was selected for the rooms, his lens trained on the neighbourhood itself; artist Don Mak contributed four original pieces to the restaurant, reflecting the area’s highlights for the diners. Beyond fine art, I advised on and installed accessories throughout all rooms and public areas, ensuring the total environment felt considered rather than assembled. For hospitality clients whose properties are shaped by the places they inhabit, I bring both the artist relationships and the curatorial sensibility to make that belonging feel real.
